I didn’t want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that’s really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you’re so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare. – Ned Vizzini, It’s Kind of a Funny Story
I’m not always a happy person. There are some days when I am downright depressed. But it usually doesn’t last very long because I always figure there are so many things that could be worse!
As long as I can find something to compare my depressed state to, I figure I will be okay. I always try to look at the bright side of things. Realistically, though, it doesn’t always work out that way.
I would much rather be happy, though.
Have you noticed, however, that there are some people who seem to live under a dark cloud? Wherever they go, it’s like they have their own personal little rain cloud following them, hovering over them.
And trust me, these people are more than “happy” to tell you about all of their woes!
We all have woes and down days. We all do! But it is how we choose to deal with the “down days” that gets us through to the next thing.
I usually tell myself that I can be depressed about something for an hour or less. Usually, it is a lot less because I’ve had a lot of experience and practice with making myself see the best of a situation.
Just keep in mind that there really is a better day coming—and it is all based on you and the way you think about things.
